New Passive House Newport
This contemporary home in Newport, on Sydney's Northern Beaches, has been approved by Northern Beaches Council and is being built to the Passivhaus Standard, targeting full Passive House Certification.
The design responds to the site's coastal conditions with a focus on thermal comfort, airtight construction, and heat recovery ventilation — delivering a home that stays comfortable year-round without relying on energy-hungry heating and cooling. As with all Gaea Architects' Passive House projects, the build incorporates ecologically sustainable, non-toxic materials in line with the practice's wellness-focused design philosophy.
Working closely with collaborators — including the Passive House Certifier, Builder, PHPP Consultant and Engineers — the design prioritises passive solar orientation and cross ventilation to make the most of Newport's climate and natural light, while meeting the rigorous airtightness and insulation standards required for certification.
Status: Council Approved, Construction Documentation complete, work about to commence.
Standard: Certified Passive House (Passivhaus)
